Civilization is nothing more than a collection of stories. The encyclopedia is the running catalogue of tales that make up reality. But we also use fiction to relate society’s values through story. The Brothers Grimm used horror to scare morality into children, but now we prefer a softer version of fantasy for the young. Usually a tale will end in Happily Ever After; but those words leave out a lot of detail about life after the legend. Life is long, and tedious. The same parents that teach us Happily Ever After is attainable also try and convince us Life Isn’t Fair; so why did they take that message out of the stories?

Once Upon a Time, Mat, Veronique, and Guest – Jayson Kerr – stumbled into a terrible labyrinth of debt, taxes, and hourly labor in their quest for the promise of Happy Endings.
