Guest Grumbler: Rocio Mendez

Nightclothes come in a multitude of genres. As a child, pajamas are a comfy cosplay of superheroes or magical ponies. As a teen, it might be boxers or a boyfriend’s tee. A 1950’s sitcom dad might wear a whole outfit of matching silk pants and button-down shirt. You might wear flannel pants; or it’s possible you wear nothing at all. We don’t have a definitive distinction on what nightclothes are. But we know what they are NOT. Day clothes. Our beds are a sacred sanctuary where day clothes are an unholy abomination of filth and pestilence. Nothing destroys the sanguine sanctity of bed like touching it with the obscenity of the outside world. And the lowest blasphemer of all is that who places upon the altar of slumber a single fiber of that vile and corrupt textile: denim. Repent with Mat, Veronique, and guest – Rocio Mendez – as we take to our soapbox, and exorcise the jeans.
