Autumn is here. The thermostat dips lower by the day. Sunlight slips through the bare branches of the trees before the work day ends. The wind whips the heat from our flannels and caps. The cold, empty, hollow numbness reminds us of our own mortality. Humanity has built fire, shelter, furnaces, magic heat warming packets for our gloves, and Omni heat thermal reflective jackets all to keep away the cold. We hate the cold so much that our most common virus carries the name: The Cold. But have we come so far that we have forgotten? Are we so warm that we forgot what our Bering Straight Nomad ancestors knew so well? Donning ugly Uggs and North Faces, we sing the chorus of, ‘I love fall!’ But not every fall has a graceful landing. Kindle a fire with Mat and Veronique, as we huddle for warmth against Autumn’s foreboding curse, The Cold!
